Lake Wisconsin Church began in 1971 with a small group Bible Study. In 1972 the church became affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America and purchased the “Church Towers” building, 203 Portage Street, Lodi. We helped plant both the Sauk Prairie EFC and the DeForest EFC. The present church property was purchased, with construction beginning in 1983. In 1985 our current building was completed and dedicated. An expansion of the current facility was completed by summer of 2002. We thank God for sustaining our congregation for over forty years!
The Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) is a worldwide movement of independent churches uited by the same statement of faith and working together to demonstrate and declare the good news of the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The EFCA is made up of over 1,300 churches. It is organized in to 17 districts, and currently deploys over 550 missionaries throughout 80 countries.
Many people find the name “Evangelical Free Church of America” confusing. This title comes from two key definitions. “Evangelical” refers to Christians who have experienced a conversion to faith in Jesus Christ. The term “Free” refers to how churches in this movement govern themselves (by emphasizing the teaching and authority of Scriptures over institutional or denominational control). At Lake Wisconsin EFC, we hope to be known as a caring and active Bible believing group that exists to share and show the new life available through Christ that we have each personally experienced.
