The Whitings live in Cakovec, north of Varazdin, about 1.5 hours north of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Their primary ministry is ministry training. Gene teaches at the Theological Biblical Academy in Krapina, a school that opened in 2000 and currently has 7 students. He teaches the Pentateuch, NT Greek, and Reformation History. Judy teaches women among local churches. They both participate in the music of their local (Cakovec) church.

Their secondary ministry is evangelism, using various personal and group strategies through the year. Each of them has specific individuals that they are witnessing to about our Lord Jesus Christ. They have been with Greater Europe Mission since 1978.

The Whitings have two married daughters: Harmony (Andy) Smith, who lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland; and Heidi (Benjamin) Turkali at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Judy is originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Gene is from Jackson, Michigan.
