Gene & Judy Whiting

CAKOVEC, CROATIA

Greater European Mission

The Whiting’s have served with Greater European Mission (GEM) in Croatia since 1978 and live in Cakovec. Lake Wisconsin has been their support team for over 25 years and thus we have watched their family grow up. They have two daughters. Harmony, now Mrs. Andy Smith, lives in Belfast, Ireland where Andy is pastor of a church. They have two children, Owen and Elise. Heidi is now Mrs. Benjamin Turkalj and she and her husband have both graduated from Moody and are raising funds so they can do ministry in Croatia where Benjamin is originally from.

Gene is a teacher of Greek and Pentateuch at Theological Biblical Academy (TBA) in Krapina, Croatia, where students are trained to become pastors and Christian workers. Gene has written a book on the reformation and the part the Zrinski family (natives of Croatia) had in this event. Gene has used this book as a witnessing tool as it often leads into discussions about Christ and the Gospel.

Judy is busy in their church helping with the music ministry, often playing the keyboard, doing children’s ministries, working with the women’s ministries and witnessing to neighbors and all with who she comes in contact.

Gene is originally from Jackson, MI, and his mother is still living.

Judy is from Colorado Springs. They plan to retire in 2015.
